Moët and Jamon (Bellota!)

Thanks to Sheryl... what a find!

Glory me... 2nd full day in Spain & the Spanish ways have infected our souls (or should I say, soles?... long day today :-) - from Madrid to Segovia by bus.  Lots of walking - under the massive aqueduct and then roaming the insane Alcazar ... BUT The Suckling Pig lunch (2-5pm) oh yes! - was the divine pinnacle of the day... altho - now supping Moët and eating bellota jamon in our spacious hotel room as Jarvis snores in the background. Maybe a close one? ;-)

Poor wee lad tho... has had another long day, but soldiering on beautifully. After the 'all clear' yesterday at hospital (did I mention we took him to hospital?) After a sleepless first night with v high fever and burning up like I have never seen before ... We thought he deserved a scenic trip to a foreign speaking hospital  - yes why not! and we managed very well surprisingly. It was a morning well spent - found out he has a virus (funny that). As a treat afterwards, a trip on a Telefonica to a playground. The views were pretty cool, but Jarvis was in heaven going over the train tracks in a cable car :-)
So today like a new kid, took off with great energy and gusto!! Half way though the castle tour tho - a happy boy turned into a sobbing one complaining of a sore ear - it was horrible... This (after he insisted, so he didnt miss out, Bruce 'carried' him up and down 162 narrow steep steps to turret top!!) then became a mad panic rush to a foreign speaking pharmacia (before closing at 2pm) to get paracetamol and nasal spray - which, we managed ** hoorah ** Lesson learnt tho... Must carry medicine cabinet everywhere we go!! ;-)
AND luckily the pharmacia we went to was directly opposite the most recognised and well known restaurant in Segovia known for its little piggies ... Oh what luck!
So as the drugs worked on Jarvis, we sat in airconditioned splendor and ate a quarter of a suckling pig each. Yes we did! & ended up - Jarvis was tucking in too, after he realized his ear was better! A turn of events that made our day. And we ate some of the most glorious desserts there too! Whiskey (top shelf) ice cream cake was the stand out. And the most radioactive lemoncello I've ever experienced, to top it all off! Think we felt like celebrating- a crisis avoided and happy boy was back! :-)
A lovely day all in all, the locals loving Jarvis - we are loving the locals...& the Tapas and vino and everything is fitting into place. We are here!
*thobbing feet but happy tummy*
