San Sebastián - what a gem!

Oh boy... Last night here and we are sad...we will come back.
Arrived in San Sebastián late (3 nights ago)... Cold and wet but the taxi driver, and then the hotel receptionist (Élanor) were so super friendly and kind, it ended up being a lovely welcome and a great feeling to be here for 4 nights, we wanted to settle into the regional food and sample local vino and other pleasantries :-)
Altho our hotel 'Husa Europa', is positioned close to one of the best beaches of northern Spain ... we didn't get the togs out. 14'C on our first 2 days (Yikes get the thermals out) .... But reached 30'C today - sunburnt tourists everywhere tonight ha ha! But not us, as we were in Bilbao today - in air conditioned splendor at the Guggenheim instead! ;-)
Headed out into the blustery wind and cold rain those first two days to warm ourselves in pintxos bars for brunch and dinner ... spent a lot of time having siestas too. Jarvis seems to be on the mend at last but still hasn't found his usual appetite.
First day...Stumbled across "La Cepa" - needed to warm up and eat. We lucked out... Pintxos were superb (hard to share) and great sangria to boot! Brunch there and then dinner at the restaurant next door (same kitchen) the next day. But everywhere we ate was brilliant...
We had heard the food was spectacular here... but really didn't expect it everywhere!
Even a late afternoon trip to the Super Amado bought us 100g Bellota Jamon and good bottle of Cava for €15! Woop! Snacks whilst finally finding Internet connection able to upload photos for a wee while.
Tonight bumped into Peta Mathias and her euro culinary tour (twice)... So funny, as it was our last night here and the only night we were able to go to one of the best rated pintxos bars "Borda Berri" (it was closed when we walked past it Sunday and Monday) blimin heck it was divine food! Had crispy pigs ear and veal cheek, veal and cheese stuffed peppers, the best octopus ever and and and.... Too many treats. Aft this we went to "la vina" renowned for its cheesecake and one of the first nights we decided to go somewhere different for dessert... But who should follow us in there ... Peta and crew... This time we got talking. And Peta shared some 'ginga love' with Jarvis. It's was interesting to find out a little about the tour... Sounded very indulgent (in a good way). They were following us tho, so that was a good feeling 'we were eating in the right places'.
Other things to mention: totally nutty vintage fun fair reached by a Funicular - and because we arrived at 7.45pm (closing at 8) we got a fluke family bumper car ride that went on way longer than is probably recommended from a physio's point of view! Super cool and going back there tomorrow (as most of rides were closed)... ha ha
Then 4.20pm... heading to Barcelona!

The playground is way cooler, says Jarvis.

Lovely Elanor at Husa Europa!
Funicular to Funfair Fun!
Bonus view too! *sigh*
